How we handle your personal data — plain and simple

Last updated: April 2026  ·  WoodsIn Meat, Netherlands

This privacy policy explains what personal data WoodsIn Meat collects, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We try to keep this as readable as possible — no legal maze, just a straight answer.

Who we are

WoodsIn Meat is a meat retailer and delivery business based in the Netherlands. We sell premium South African and international meats online and by phone.

What data we collect

We only collect data that is directly relevant to fulfilling your order or responding to your enquiry.

When you fill in our contact form

  • Full name
  • Email address
  • Phone number (optional)
  • Your message or order details

When you place an order online

  • First and last name
  • Email address and phone number
  • Delivery address (street, postcode, city)
  • Order contents and value
  • Payment information — this is handled securely via Stripe and is never stored on our servers

When you visit our website

  • Your cart contents are saved in your browser's localStorage — this stays on your device and is never sent to us unless you complete an order
  • We do not currently run analytics scripts or third-party tracking cookies

Why we collect it

We use your data for one reason: to process and deliver your order, or to respond to your question. We do not sell, share, or rent your data to any third party for marketing purposes.

Specifically, your data may be used to:

  • Process and confirm your order
  • Arrange delivery to your address
  • Contact you about your order if needed
  • Respond to enquiries sent via the contact form or WhatsApp
  • Meet legal obligations (invoicing, tax records)

Who we share it with

We share your data only where strictly necessary:

  • Stripe — for secure payment processing. Stripe is PCI-DSS compliant. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Delivery partners — your name and delivery address may be passed to our courier if we use third-party delivery.

No data is transferred outside the European Economic Area without appropriate safeguards in place.

How long we keep your data

Order records are kept for 7 years in line with Dutch tax law (Belastingdienst requirements). Contact enquiries that do not result in an order are deleted after 12 months unless you ask us to keep them longer.

Your rights under GDPR

As a resident of the Netherlands (or any EU country), you have the following rights:

  • Right of access — you can ask to see what data we hold about you
  • Right to correction — you can ask us to fix incorrect data
  • Right to deletion — you can ask us to delete your data (subject to legal retention requirements)
  • Right to object — you can object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Right to portability — you can ask for a copy of your data in a machine-readable format

To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@woodsin.nl. We will respond within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

Cookies and local storage

This website uses your browser's localStorage to remember your shopping cart between visits. This is not a cookie — it stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser data.

We do not currently use advertising cookies, analytics trackers, or any third-party tracking scripts.

Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes to how we handle your data, we will update this page and revise the date at the top. We recommend checking back occasionally if you are a regular customer.
